Wife appreciation anyone?

Guess what holiday is today - and it completely got away from me!? (Man am I going to have to make sure my husband knows when THIS one is!) Today is Wife Appreciation Day, and is supposed to be set apart as different than Valentines Day or something else you would normally celebrate - like your anniversary. Today is about celebrating all your wife does for you, and usually, when you stop to think about it, that's a lot! I know my husband probably doesn't even realize all that I do for him - and that's the way it should be. Who wants to have a wife who is constantly pointing out everything she's done - and usually it's part of just daily life, like laundry, grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning. While some people may just assume that's part of a wife's "job," let me reassure you that it's not. Not only is that assumption sexist and outdated, but it's just rude and wrong!

Today, wives do so much more than just staying at home and keeping the house and kids neat and tidy. Many of us are working women also, with the added job of the "traditional" wife. Even if they don't work outside of the home, many stay-at-home wives are still more busy than most people think. It's not about sitting around and eating bon-bons all day!

So regardless of if your wife works outside the home, stays home with the kids, or even if you make a point to equally share the burdens of everyday living, take some time out today to let her know how much you appreciate what she does for you! Sometimes, that's one of the things we want to hear the most - but asking for validation is never the same as receiving it without asking!
