There are so many holidays, some recognized by the multitudes, some very discrete and not so well-known. Obviously, the ones that mean the most to us personally are the ones that we have grown up celebrating through family traditions or by our own choice later in life. However, one of our local radio stations has just recently aired a radio spot that puts a whole new spin on holidays.
They are asking listeners to call in and tell about their own holidays – that is, holidays that they have created themselves. Now I know what you’re probably going to say: that’s not a real holiday! But hey, wait a minute, isn’t this kind of how a lot of holidays are started? Sure, we’ve got some really weird ones, like Beer Day (March 1st) and Check Your Batteries Day (March 11th), but who says holidays have to solemn and rational?
Do you have any special holidays that aren’t officially recognized that you celebrate? Or maybe you don’t really see them as holidays because they’re personal to your family. If so, please share them! Oh and if I hear of any on the radio that are worth sharing, I’ll clue you in!
