Trying to plan for Valentine's Day

There are so many possibilities of things to plan for Valentine’s Day, it’s almost hard to narrow it down to one great idea for your significant other. There are cards, flowers, candies, dinner dates, and for some, probably even engagement proposals.

Some will try their hand at writing a love poem or love letter, while some will resort to more typical dinner reservations. One thing’s for sure, regardless of what you plan, as long as you really put some thought into it, it’s sure to be appreciated.

The sad thing for me is that it seems like every year I fall into the trap of thinking that it’s up to my husband to do most of the planning. Maybe that’s just because it’s most typical for the guy to take care of the girl, but regardless of why I’ve fallen into this thought pattern, it’s something I really want to get out of. It’s easy (and fun) to be taken out for dinner and have someone give you gifts for “no reason” except a holiday that someone made up, but at the same time, why shouldn’t I also treat him as well?

This year, I was really hopin I could come up with something great, but considering Valentine’s falls so close to my due date, I may have to hold the thought for a less chaotic time. Or, maybe having a baby will be enough of a celebration in itself…

I was really hoping to present my husband with a Nintendo Wii this year for Christmas, but was never able to secure one. Everywhere I call tells me that they should be easier to find around February, maybe this can be a belated Christmas and Valentine’s gift combined. I know, not the most romantic thing, but it IS something I know he’s been wanting, so at least it isn’t something unwanted or pointless. Who knows, maybe I’ll even fix a romantic dinner before he unpacks it and I sit down to take a nap!
