Truly awesome Mother's Day gift ideas

Are you in need of ideas for a great Mother’s Day gift? If in doubt, please don’t resort to the cheesy, although easy-to-come-by gift ideas. Check out the article about Mother’s Day gifts on Thatsfit.com. Jessica’s post says it SO much better than I ever could. Her ideas are so true to the mark, and I couldn’t agree more with her statement “…give the lady some time to feel good about herself and her body. Hell, just give her time.” I enjoyed her post so much, I would quote the whole thing if practical (and not plagiarism).

She addresses not only the gift-giving part of the holiday, but the appreciation we should all have for our mothers, and fellow mothers, and ourselves if we are mothers. She also points out the sacrifices mothers make daily, without expecting recognition (and often without receiving any!) Anyway, do yourself a favor and give it a read. I myself would love a chance to take belly dancing lessons, but who has the time? And my sister, well, let’s just say that I know she would LOVE some time to herself. With two young ones, she never has time to go to the bathroom by herself, much less do something she enjoys! And as much as we love our husbands, let’s face it, unfortunately they don’t always get it. (God love ‘em!)

Hi all! My name is Olivia and I am an intern for a non-profit called One By One. We celebrate motherhood by working to end obstetric fistula, a devastating childbirth injury prevalent in the developing world that is caused by unrelieved obstructed labor. 90% of women who suffer from fistula have lost their unborn children and they leak urine continuously as a result of their injuries. As tragic as fistula is, it is treatable and preventable. The average cost of fistula repair surgery for one woman is $300, and every donation makes a difference. This Mother’s Day, One By One is offering an alternative gift idea —for the price of a bouquet of flowers you can drastically improve lives of mothers in the developing world. To make a tax-deductible donation in your mother’s name please visit www.fightfistula.org. Donations include an ecard sent to your mother telling her about your donation. One By One is all about real people supporting real mothers and their communities across the world from ours. This is a great, quick (or last minute) gift that really makes a difference! Thanks!
