This weekend's holidays

While you're lounging around this weekend, looking for something to do, don't forget the holidays this weekend celebrates!

Saturday May 17th is:

Sunday May 18th is:

Some of the suggestions for Pack Rat Day is to NOT clean various areas of your house (to keep up the practice of being a Pack Rat). However, I would like to propose a different way to "celebrate" - and that is to begin breaking the cycle of being a pack rat in the first place! Take a few hours this weekend to clean out your closets, your garage, those top shelves that no one knows what's on them. You'd be surprised at how much junk you have that you can get rid of - and how much space you'll gain! I just did a little of this recently and had a yard sale - I can't believe how much stuff I had that I got rid of, but worse still is how much stuff I still have!

Sunday has some great holiday ideas that you can enjoy all weekend long - so don't wait until Sunday to "celebrate" them! Go to a museum - what a great boredom buster! Art, science, transportation, whatever kind of museum you've got close, go check it out!

dishes-in-sink.jpg No Dirty Dishes Day - well, again that's giving us a reprieve from the drudgery of doing dishes, so enjoy the excused break! Besides, one day of leaving the dishes in the sink won't hurt anyone (take it from me, I do it all the time!) Take that found free time to celebrate the next holiday - Visiting your relatives! Some people are blessed to have family they want to be around, while some, well, not so much. Some have family close by, but more often today, most of us have our families spread around the country. If you are blessed to have family you can enjoy being around and are close enough to visit, don't wait for one of those "big" holidays, go see them this weekend - that's the reason for the holiday after all.

Have a great weekend everyone!
