The signs of Halloween are everywhere!

I love fall. Except for the fact that this time of year my nose starts running as the pollen count rises, I can't help but love this time of year. I grew up loving fall for many reasons, one of which - as a child - was Halloween. Who wouldn't love getting to dress up in some really neat costume and going door to door, knowing that someone is going to give you CANDY!?

great-pumpkin-charlie-brown.jpg Even the TV networks get into the swing of things. Do you remember "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown?" That was one of my favorites when I was little. (I always had a soft spot for Charlie Brown - with everyone always picking on him!) There was also this one movie on the Disney Channel, years ago, I wish I could remember what it was. It was about a family and a haunted house. The dad got possessed and would float through the house saying "boogedy, boogedy, boogedy!" (Nothing scary there!) I can't say it was a classic, especially since it was never released on video, but we enjoyed it as kids and went around quoting the "boogedy, boogedy, boogedy," for days afterwards.

The Disney Channel shows Halloween-related movies each night for almost the whole month of October, ABC Family has the "13 Nights of Halloween," Nickelodeon is doing something similar. I'm sure there are plenty of other specials going on this time of year, but those are some of my personal favorites...

One of my "don't miss" movies from ABC will be The Corpse Bride, with Johnny Depp as one of the voices. It's a Tim Burton annimated film for those who may be unfamiliar with the movie, and if you enjoyed The Nightmare Before Christmas, it's one to see.

As much as I hope to raise our family to be active and not couch potatoes, there are just some specials that I think we'll have to make exceptions for!
