The Official End of Christmas

I guess after today Christmas is officially over. I never realized that the “12 Days of Christmas” actually began on December 25th and ended on January 6th. Apparently, today marks what is known as 3 Kings Day, which is celebrated as the Feast of Ephiphany.

Also called the Adoration of the Magi (3 Kings), the day is known ad the day the three wise men (or kings) sought out the baby Jesus by following the star. Part of the celebration traditionally includes carolers, the taking down of the Christmas tree and a bonfire where the trees are burned. Before the burning of the tree, the children enjoy “raiding” the tree for any candy that was on it as decoration.

So, there goes another Christmas holiday, officially over by societal standards, and pretty much over as far as tradition goes. Yet, what do you say that we try to keep the spirit of Christmas – the love and joy and hope and goodwill – alive in our homes throughout the year?
