Thanksgiving is when?

How did this happen? How did Thanksgiving sneak up on me? How can it really be only two days away?!!!

Before you start thinking I'm absolutely out of touch with the world around me, let me explain. This year we are going out of town for the holiday, and since we're staying with family, I won't be doing much in the way of preparation for the feast. Truth be told, I've been more wrapped up in:

1. we'll be out of town for the holiday - i.e. away from my family

2. we're travelling with the baby for the first time

3. we'll be staying away from home with the baby for the first time - and not only "away from home," but all three of us in a tiny bedroom

4. we'll be there for 4 days

Pooh%20Thanksgiving.gif I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but it's the first trip we've made with the baby and I'm a little anxious that it goes well. Fortunately he typically does well in the car, but we've never taken him on a 4 hour car trip. I have a feeling that this trip will take us a lot longer than it normally does... And, he's never been around cats, which there will be 2 of where we're staying. I'm sure he'll be fine, I'm just concerned about allergies. I guess I'll just load up the Benedryll when I pack and that will take care of that.

I am looking forward to the trip, though, even with all the potential "uh-oh's" that could crop up. We haven't been to see this side of the family in almost a year. Even though the grandparents (my husband's parents) have come to visit, that still leaves a slew of cousins, aunts, uncles, and a grandmother (my husband's - our baby's great grandmother) that we haven't seen since then. Which of course means that they have never met my little boy. I can't wait to show him off! (I just hope he's in a good mood!) Not only that, but my mother-in-law and I are going to continue our tradition of hitting the stores for Black Friday. (WHAT are we thinking???) It's craziness, but we have fun together.

Now I just need to come up with a dish that I can help contribute to the holiday meal without overstepping my "visitor's space" in the kitchen. I just realized this morning that we have to pack tonight so we can leave when my husband gets off of work tomorrow, and something tells me that my husband will be dragging his feet and won't be packed until minutes before we're supposed to be walking out the door. Ah, the joys of traveling!
