Thankful for a good Thanksgiving

You'll have to forgive me for not posting more recently. It's been a madhouse around here, and no, the baby hasn't come yet... unfortunately... so I can't use that as an excuse. But, in my defense, we've just finished with hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our home, painting the baby's room over the weekend, and we had a playdate here for a cookie exchange just today that I haven't even begun to clean up from. So, it's been pretty busy. Also, there's my best friend's birthday tomorrow, my husband's birthday (and a cousin's) on Friday, some kind of party I'm supposed to attend Thursday night that I keep forgetting about, and then next week starts a whole new list of "to-do's!"

Whew! I knew the holidays were busy, but it's really exhausting when you're balancing a toddler and trying to carry a watermelon on your belly... But I'm enjoying the time and trying not to be anxious about when baby #2 will make her appearance. (Easier said than done!)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours went really well, and the whole family (minus my sister who had to be at her husban's family's dinner) showed up. We had just enough food without making ourselves miserable, and the good news is that I'm not overloaded with leftovers! Hurray! I don't know about you, but we're terrible about eating leftovers. Wish I could say otherwise, and I feel terribly wasteful about it, but it's just how it is. I suppose as our kids get older and food starts really costing us we'll have to re-evaluate how we eat around here...

And, even better, everyone got along great! My two cousins who are 13 (on Friday) and 8 played so well with my toddler I was overjoyed. I never would have thought that they would be interested in "hanging out" with an almost-two-year-old, but I suppose when there's no other choice... We watched the parade, then the dog show, and then somehow, strangely enough the TV got changed from Miracle on 34th Street to some football game. Now how do you supposed that happened? But, the men took up residence on the couch and the women took over in the kitchen, and we all had a good visit.

I didn't get to implement any "new" traditions, but I guess my toddler isn't going to remember that this year we didn't all sit around and tell what we were thankful for or anything like that, and I guess watching the parade IS a tradition, as is visiting with family, so we did have some traditions going...

Unfortunately, eveyone was packing up and heading out when I realized that I hadn't taken any pictures, so I can't share those with you, but trust me when I say it was a good time. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with your family and friends, and have recouperated from turkey overdose!
