Something on a stick day!

Happy “Something on a Stick” day! Yeah, I know, sounds kind of vague, if not odd, but it’s true! How many things can you think of to celebrate today? There’s the obvious popsicles, corndogs, marshmallows (like over a fire), but how about a few less common stick-foods? I’ll never forget one year my family took a vacation to the beach and my grandmother went with us. We were walking down the boardwalk, shopping and enjoying the sights, when we decided to stop for ice cream. My grandmother decided to try something different, and got a frozen, chocolate-dipped banana on a stick. I was SO embarrassed. I was a young teenager and all I could think was how obscene it looked – and here we were walking down the boardwalk with my grandmother eating this thing!

Okay, that said, how about fondue? One of my absolute favorite restaurants is The Melting Pot. Unfortunately, when we moved, we’re hours away from the closest one, so it’s not something I can enjoy so readily. Not to mention that it’s extremely expensive! But, wow, is it worth it! My husband took me there for Valentine’s day one year and they had a special menu for the holiday. We had such a spread of food it was incredible! And you can’t beat their chocolate fondue dessert. If you get a chance, I highly recommend it.
