Christmas drum ornaments are easy to make and look great on your tree! Kids love making these quick and easy Christmas drum tree ornaments, too. I remember making these in grade school for a friend's Christmas tree.

The project requires empty cardboard rolls, thin cardboard, red, green and white felt, craft glue, scissors, round toothpicks, and the rickrack, braid, and sequins of your choice for trimming. Paper towel rolls work a bit better than toilet paper rolls, because they are sturdier.

1. Cut the cardboard rolls into sections about 1-1/2" long. Cut the thin cardboard into circles the same diameter as the open end of the tube (1 per tube).

2. Cut the red or green felt to fit around the outside of the tube. Cut the white felt into circles the same size as your cardboard circles.

3. Cut a piece of the braid or rickrack about 6" long and glue the ends to the outside edge of the cardboard, overlapping the cardboard about 1/2", with the ends about and inch apart, for the neck strap (hanger) of the drum.

4. Glue the red or green felt around the outside of the tube.

5. Glue the white felt to the cardboard circle, and glue to the top of the drum.

6. Glue the rickrack, braid, and sequins to the outside of the drum.

7. Cut the toothpicks in half and glue to the top of the drum for drumsticks.

Glitter is also pretty, too, but I didn't have any handy when I made the samples. I also used hot glue instead of craft glue, but I would reserve that method for older children.
