No Dirty Dishes Day!

dishes%20in%20sink.jpg No here's a holiday I can really go for! Okay, so with a new baby it's not really realistic, considering that I can't get out of washing bottles, but hey, it's worth a shot to try to observe the holiday! Okay, so I don't do as many dishes as I could be anyway - I'm a firm believer in paper plates. Yes, I realize that they're bad for the environment, but I just can't get away from the convienence! Besides, there's still all the pot and pans and utensils to wash. Not to mention the glasses. (My husband has a bad habit of getting a glass, setting it down somewhere, forgetting about it and getting a new one... I tease him that he's starting a glass collection in the bedroom!)

According to the holiday website, "the objective of this day is to have no dirty dishes. It is not intended to pile them up until tomorrow." They recommend either using paper/plastics or my personal favorite, going out to eat for all 3 meals. (Yeah, I know, that gets expensive quick...) But how about finger-food? Or food on a stick? (If I remember, there was actually a holiday to celebrate food on a stick...) Or one of my favorites - food that you can fix and eat off of a paper towel - like sandwiches or toaster strudels!

But, I guess if you just have to, letting dishes pile up in the sink for the day isn't so terrible. In my household, it's not even a rare occurrance! I may have to keep up with the bottles, but dishes, hey, they can wait!

(and yes, I realize that this photo is extreme - and no, it's NOT my sink!)
