Need some Thanksgiving decor ideas?

I came across this blog when I was looking, oddly enough, for "Superhero party ideas." My nephew is turning 5 in a few days, and his party is this weekend. I'm trying to help my sister come up with some inexpensive ways to decorate for his chosen "superhero" theme. Anyway, I got a little sidetracked, and ended up checking out Kendra's blog My Insanity for her Thanksgiving table decorations. They are absolutely awesome!

Although my family doesn't really do "sit down together at the table" kind of meals - it's more of a buffet style, sit where you can find a seat arrangement - these table decorations make me wish for a more formal seating arrangement! But, since we'll probably host the meal at our house this year, and our table will only seat 6 and there are about 20 of us, spreading out to the living room couch and random chairs and folding tables brought up from the basement kind of rules out some of these cute ideas for us...

The first one she shows is a pilgrim's hat place card - made using black plastic cups and construction paper. So easy and so cute! The next idea is Indian (or Native American - take your pick) headbands with feathers - made using construction paper. She's also got a photo to show off her table display from a previous year. Very nice!

From a turkey made with a squash, gourd, carrot, and best of all, fruit candies for the feathers on his tail, to the mini cornucopias made out of bugles and runt candies, the kids table looks like so much fun to sit at!

Anyway, check out her posts for more info on her ideas and more photos. Maybe you'll come away with some good ideas to decorate for your family's Thanksgiving! Happy planning!
