National Bar-b-que Month

grillguide_story1.jpg How appropriate - to go with our Memorial Day holiday, May is National Bar-b-que Month. Considering many people will be spending the weekend with various cookouts, picnics, and parties, what better way to enjoy the time than with bar-b-que?

Oddly enough, it's also National Hamburger Month, National Salad Month, and National Photograph Month - all things I would expect to find at family gatherings and/or cookouts.

I'm so enjoying the warm weather, and it seems like lately we've been spending more and more of our family time with not just immediate but with our extended family - celebrating birthdays and holidays (like Mother's Day) at my grandmother's house doing what? You guessed: grilling out.

It's just such a great way to get together and spend time. Everyone brings a dish or two, we have some of the guys "man the grill" and the ladies visit and keep up with the younger kids (which is proving to be a job since the young ones are now old enough to run around like crazy but not old enough to trust on their own.) We always have too much food, and we're all having to re-learn to only eat until we're satisfied rather than stuffing ourselves until we're uncomfortable. But, it's great.

It's been a great spring, and the summer looks like it's going to be just as memorable. Bring on the heat and bring on the bar-b-que!
