My New Year's celebration

Well, my husband and I have never made much of New Year's Eve, maybe it's because we typically stay up all hours anyway, so what's one more night? Maybe it's because we're not big "party" people. I mean, we have gone to friend's houses and celebrated New Year's Eve, but usually it's a much more quiet affair than most people enjoy for the holidays. Meaning snacks and board/card games, conversation, maybe a movie or something on TV...

However, this year we spent New Year's in a much different way, and dare I say kind of a unique way. We spent New Year's Eve at the hospital! No, no one was sick or hurt, but our baby girl decided to make her appearance on December 30th, so we were finishing up our stay there until the 1st of the year. So we had to enjoy ringing in the new year without the usual fanfare and with the presence of a newborn! It was pretty exciting if I must say, although the constant presence of nurses checking blood pressure and temperature was a bit of a distraction - we did actually miss seeing the ball drop by just a few seconds! Oh well, we DID see the new year roll in, as we have for pretty much every night since, thanks to a baby that doesn't seem to understand our schedule! Oh well, I suppose it will take her a while to learn that nighttime is for sleeping!

Well, however you celebrated your New Year's Eve, I hope it was a good one, and may the year 2009 be full of great things for you! I know our 2009 is going to be exciting!
