May 15th and 16th's not-so-famous holidays

This past Thursday and today we have several odd holidays to celebrate. (Sorry Thursday's are late!)

I'm really disappointed I missed National Chocolate Chip Day - I'm all about the fresh-out-of-the-oven, not quite cooked all-the-way chocolate chip cookies. Yum! But really, when needs to wait for a special day to celebrate that? Maybe I should only celebrate or indulge on special days!

Police Officer's Memorial Day is a special holiday as well. This is a day to "honor and remember police officers who gave their lives while on duty." Considering they protect and serve 24/7, one day out of the year doesn't seem quite enough... Sure, cops can get a bad wrap, but a few bad ones don't negate all the good the majority of them do.

The Bike to Work Day thing is great, but considering I work from home, not so practical. That and I live miles from town on rather curvy, rural roads that make biking a little hazardous, and I have a 15-month-old that I'd have to ensure was safe on the back of my bike...well, not such a great idea for me. I wish it was - it would be a great way to get and stay in shape, not to mention save some $$ on gas!

The Love a Tree Day brings back memories of being a Brownie (you know, before you're a Girl Scout) where our troop "adopted a tree." I have to admit, back then, and even now, I thought it was a little odd to be out hugging a tree. I don't really think that's what loving the environment is really about!
