Mary Poppins turns 44

44 years ago today, on August 29th, Walt Disney's Mary Poppins is released (1964). Such a great movie! This is one I remember so fondly from my childhood - there are several that I know I probably drove my parents crazy with, and I think this has to be one of them. Any time it came on TV I was watching it. It's one of the great classics that I still enjoy today, even grown, and I hope to share my enthusiasm of it with my kids. It's a great movie for families and even smaller children. So many movies today - even cartoons - seem to be suited for one age or another, but not necessarily all ages. I didn't think much about this until I have started paying attention to what my 19-month-old sees. I was watching The Waterhorse the other night with my husband and son, thinking it was an okay kids movie, which i is - as long as the kid is a little older! We had to turn it off and wait until he was in bed to watch it! (Good movie though!)

Mary Poppins is a movie to celebrate - with stars like Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, it's just a classic that will always be dear to me.
