In Boston, St. Patricks Day is a HUGE holiday. People go more than slightly nuts, the world is awash with green beer and people wandering through town more than a little bit tipsy in bright green clothing. Everyone is an honorary Irishman on St Paddy's Day in Boston.

Except, um... we had a big blizzard and there will be so much snow on the ground I can't really imagine that the parade is going to go off in South Boston as usual. The parade is a big one, but for the last few years it's been mired in controversy and many people choose to boycott it. I haven't been myself in years, but that's mostly because it's scary being around so many drunk people.
The best part is seeing the kids and the dogs all dressed to celebrate. And knowing that every pub in town will be doing landmark business. Even Dunkin' Donuts has green donuts and McDonalds has green shakes. Yeah.
So happy St. Patricks Day, and go check out the recipes on our sister blog, Forks.ca to get some great Irish recipes.
