Homemade snow globe project for the kids

I’m all about crafts, and unfortunately my basement clutter will agree with me that I usually get in way over my head. I’ve got so much stuff that I can’t get focused on one project before I’m distracted by another. That’s one reason that I really appreciate fun, easy crafts that don’t take a lot of time or materials!

I’m hoping that over the years I can keep my kids busy with crafts, and as the holidays come up, it gives us a perfect opportunity to drag out some of the craft materials that go neglected during the rest of the year. I found a great post from Lindsey on making a homemade snow globe.

She gives basic instructions on how to put it together, and although the result is not a perfect, store-bought snow globe (especially since you’re using a baby-food jar as the “globe”), this is a great project to get your kids involved in! And, considering all you need is baby food jars, glitter, hot glue gun, some kind of knick-knack and food coloring if you want, it’s a relatively cheap craft. Cheap is the best kind…

Also, when your kids reach the age when they start wanting to give gifts of their very own, whether it’s to a friend at school, their teacher, or to you and your spouse, it’s a great way to encourage them to be creative and give a special gift instead of running out to spend money. Let your creativity go wild and see what you end up with. Who knows, your snow globe may become the favorite Christmas decoration at the grandparent's house!
