Happy President's Day!

Happy President’s Day! Are you ready to shop? Over the years, President’s Day has become more of a day for stores to hold sales than a day to celebrate past presidents. Originally designated as a day to celebrate Washington’s birthday, and later also Lincoln, we’ve kind of lost the purpose behind the holiday. Now, instead of businesses being closed, you’re more likely to find them open and holding “no interest for X amount of time” sales.

There are a few businesses that still hold onto this holiday – I’m jealous of my mother and husband who work for the government and for a credit union because they always have the day off while I have to tromp into work. Okay, so I’m not terribly patriotic since I’m not upset due to not being able to “celebrate” my past presidents. But hey, a day off work is a day off work.

However, if you are into celebrating the past presidents, you could always check out Alexandria, VA who hosts a month-long tribute or Eustis, FL who has an annual “George Fest.” However you celebrate, I hope you can enjoy the day – if you have it off just think of me while you’re enjoying not being at work. If you do have to work it, think of me also and remember that you’re not alone in having to work! And, if you can, be sure to take advantage of some of the great President’s Day sales!
