Christmas has flown by and New Year's Eve is coming up fast. I hope that everyone had a great Christmas holiday however you chose to celebrate, and I wish you all a very happy New Year as well. I guess 8 years afterwards, we've proven that 1999/2000 wasn't the end of it all, and 2008 is just days away. Soon, we'll all be struggling to write the new date for weeks as we adjust to the change! Whether you celebrate with a small family gathering or a large, roaring party and lots of bubbly, please enjoy a safe and fun holiday! (I have one friend who has chosen this New Year as their wedding date! What were they thinking?!)
My family has rung in the New Year in many different ways over the years, and this year we will once again look for a new way to celebrate. I remember going to the church for their New Year's celebration - focusing on family games and snacks. I've been out with friends and family when I was a little older for fireworks, one year as a newlywed, my husband and I were at a putt-putt course watching fireworks from there. Later, we celebrated at a friend's house with a group of us, playing games and of course the always present food. This year, with a baby, I'm not sure we'll be going out anywhere, and as still somewhat "new" parents, being up past midnight isn't anything new, but it's hardly cause for celebration...
This year has been so eventful it's hard to see it go, but it's also terribly exciting to see what the new year will bring. We've just attended a wedding for my sister-in-law, so for her and her new husband it holds a wonderful new future. A cousin of my husband just had a baby girl, and another one is expecting this summer, so for them and their families it holds the joys of parenthood. My sister and her husband just bought their first home and moved in over Christmas - so they have the excitement of being homeowners. For my husband and I, our little boy is on the verge of walking, so we've got a world of fun ahead of us. There are so many things for 2008 to hold, I hope that your New Year is wonderful!
