Happy Cousins Day!

This "Cousins Day" holiday would be one crazy day for my family if we actually celebrated it. Between my dad's three brothers and my mom's two brothers, there are 13 kids - 5 on my mom's side and 8 on my dad's - well, 10 if you count my sister and I. (And I realize can actually be considered a small-ish family size!) But even still, when you get all of us together, it can be a bit crazy. I suppose it doesn't help that there's also an additional 7 kids considering that four of us have had kids of our own. Also, of the original set of cousins, a handful of those are still in grade school.

Basically, this makes for a whole mess of kids running around. You should see the place at Christmas! Now, my mother's side is a little more calm. There's only five cousins on that side of the family, and three of us are grown, but let me just say that the youngest two make up for it!

Anyway, I guess it wouldn't be the same without them, so I guess today I'll celebrate my cousins - but quietly in my own way at home. As my son gets older, maybe we'll get together with my sister and her two boys to celebrate the holiday a little more "formally," although with a 5, 2 and almost-2 year old, how "formal" can you be with any celebration?
