Can’t get enough of the New Year’s Celebration? Well, this is your lucky month! February 18th is the Chinese New Year, and this year we’re in the year of the Pig. Each year is represented by one of 12 animals: rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and boar.
Formally named DingHai, the name for this year is in its 8th year of being used – the formal names for the Chinese New Year are used in 60-year cycles, being repeated every 60 years.
Currently, according to the Chinese calendar, we’re actually in the year 4704 instead of 2007. Makes you feel kind of old, huh?
