Canada is celebrating it's birthday on July 1st.
Every city and town celebrates Canada Day in their own way - with parades, picnics and fireworks. There's always a big televised concert on Parliament Hill with big name singers and interesting hosts.
Where I live the Calgary Tower has a torch (left over from the '88 Olympics) that gets ignited, so once it gets dark, it looks like the Calgary Tower (over 525 feet tall) is the giant candle on Canada's birthday cake!
That combined with all the fireworks, makes for a pretty fantastical evening to be sipping red wine out on your deck. Happy Canada Day!
Enjoy the day!
