Give the housework a rest!

I can’t believe I missed it! This past Saturday, April 7th, was “No Housework Day!” Okay, okay, so if you talked to my husband, you’d probably determine that every day is no housework day at my house, but I have the excuse of having a 2-month old. (I wonder how long I’ll be able to use that one…) For the past two months, I’ve been practically camping out in my living room, and even though the little guy sure likes naps, he prefers them on my lap, which doesn’t allow much time for housework!

The funny thing is that I don’t mind housework! It gives me a sense of accomplishment (and relief) to have a clean house. I guess it’s just one small thing I can control in my life – except for the fact that I can’t do anything about my husband’s papers, magazines, and computer “stuff.” That, and the laundry that doesn’t seem to ever make it into the hamper… Weird how it just seems to toss itself randomly around the bedroom floor…

Anyway, I’m all for an official “No Housework Day,” so even if you missed it, take a day for yourself and enjoy a day off! Everyone needs a break, and like the poem goes, those cobwebs will keep!

Babies Don't Keep
Cleaning and scrubbing
Can wait till tomorrow,
For babies grow up
We've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs,
Dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby,
And babies don't keep.
