Getting ready for Easter

This will be the first year we will put together an Easter basket for our son. Since he is now two, he's old enough to enjoy the candy and toys we put in it for him. Also, he's old enough to enjoy the egg hunt this year, so I'm really looking forward to it. (He participated in our family's egg hunt last year, but it was more of a "Hey Seth! Look! An egg!" as we pointed it out and helped him put it in his basket.)

I didn't want his basket to be all candy - bad for him AND us! - so I've been looking for some fun, creative things to include. So far I've gotten a bubble kit that has the bubbles, a regular small wand and one of those really big bubble wands - all in the Disney Pixar Cars design. I've also got him a pair of Cars sunglasses - hopefully these are sturdy enough to survive at least a little while! I've picked up some sidewalk chalk and some ball-themed plastic eggs that I can put little candies in. I found a bag of individually wrapped Sixlets - little candy-covered chocolates - that I KNOW he'll love. I also picked up one of those sucker-holders that you push the button and it rotates the sucker for you - you guessed it - in Cars! (Can you see a theme here?)

I also have seen a Cars Easter basket, but I don't know that I want to spend the money on something he'll probably outgrow and not want to use again next year. Besides, the dollar stores have ball-themed baskets, so I guess we'll have to wait and see about that. Seems like there was one I saw somewhere that I told myself I would go back and get when he wasn't with me, but for the life of me I can't remember where it was or even what the design was... Oh well. A basket is a basket, right?

So, yay for me for getting a head start on it all - now if I can only get it all together in one place so I don't lose some (or all) of it and have to scramble because it's in "a safe place!"
