Enjoy free pancakes this Tuesday!

One of the best things about most holidays is the food. What better way to celebrate anything than with food? Birthdays = cake, Thanksgiving = turkey, Easter = egg salad, Christmas = ham, July Fourth = hot dogs and hamburgers, you get the picture. So, make sure to head out with your family this Tuesday to celebrate National Pancake Day!

IHOP is helping the masses celebrate this most important of holidays by offering free - check it - FREE pancakes to customers between the hours of 7am and 10 pm. For one day only, customers are allowed one free short stack (that would be three pancakes) of IHOP's buttermilk pancakes. The only catch here is that IHOP asks that customers make a donation to support local children's hospitals through the Children's Miracle Network. Not a bad deal if you ask me!

Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products...hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.

However, if you're questioning the date, this year the National Pancake Day celebration was postponed a week by IHOP because so many states held their Presidential Primaries on February 5th, so in order to ensure a good crowd, we'll celebrate this week instead.

This promotion began in 2006 - when IHOP raised over $340,000 for charity - and continued last year in 2007 when they raised over $625,000. This year they hope to beat that by raising over $750,000. Let's help them out and enjoy a good meal while we're at it!
