EMS Week the end of May

Just a note for this Memorial Day weekend: enjoy yourself and please be careful while you do!

While leaving the house the other day I heard on the radio about how the local police will be upping their patrols during the holiday weekend, stopping to check licenses, seat belts, and possible DUIs. As much as this is an added inconvenience for many of us, we must consider that unfortunately there are plenty of people out there who don't always use the best judgment when it comes to enjoying the party.

I thought it was interesting then, to find out that the last week in May is Emergency Medical Services week. While I realize that technically the purpose of the EMS Week is to show appreciation for our EMS workers, it also makes me realize that with Memorial Day being this weekend, there may be an increased need for said EMS workers.

So, if you know anyone who works as EMS, let them know how much they are appreciated. If you don't, take a moment before you attend that Memorial Day party and choose to make good decisions before-hand. Play it safe and take care of yourself and the others around you. Hopefully we can let an EMS worker know we appreciate them without having to use their services.
