Easter flowers

CORSAGE.jpg With the Sunday being Easter (I can’t believe the year is going by so fast), I’ve come to realize that I don’t have my yearly new Easter outfit. Why I feel the need to have something new each year I couldn’t tell you, but it seems to be a tradition that my family started when I was little. Growing up, my grandmother was an expert seamstress, and she made a lot of my clothes, so usually our outfits were “Taylor-made.”

Anyway, my sister called just today to invite me to go shopping with her to pick out her Easter dress tomorrow. Whether or not I end up buying a new outfit has yet to be seen, but either way, I still have one wardrobe tradition that I’m looking forward to. Each year at Easter, my dad buys my grandmother, mom, sister and I an Easter corsage to wear to church. One for each of the women in his life, he says.

There’s just something special about it – other than the fact that it makes me feel really special! And, if my husband and I ever end up having a daughter, I fully expect the tradition to extend to her as well. So, every year, I sport a beautiful orchid corsage, new outfit or not. I guess some people go all out and have their Easter bonnets, but this is our tradition.
