Dressing up for New Years Eve

Today my kids and I were in a store that happens to carry party goods as well as other things. There was a huge aisle of costume-type stuff for New Years Eve, with top hats and funny sparkly 2007 eyeglasses, giant diapers for the New Years Baby, and lots and lots of fancy wigs and party hats. I guess if you're going to host a party, you might as well ask your guests to dress up, too.

They also had really pretty confetti and streamers made of mylar in very bright colors as well as the more typical silver, gold, black and white. One type of confetti had 2007 pieces interspersed with other colored squares. How pretty!

There were plenty of horns to blow, and champagne glass maracas to shake at the appropriate time. I wonder how the neighbors would like hearing all that noise at midnight? I remember when I was a kid and was allowed to stay up till midnight, the cool thing to do was to band pots and pans in the street at midnight. How things have changed!

I haven't been to a real New Years Eve party in years, but after looking at all the loot you can decorate with, I think I want to have one next year, just so I can put up my own Times Square in my living room. Now if only Dick Clark were able to come to announce how Rockin' my party was, life would be good, eh?
