Crazy Christmas lights

One thing I remember growing up at Christmas was driving around town with my family and my dad’s good friend to look at Christmas lights. We have some people that really do it up right, and it was always fun to see what people came up with. There was even one house in town that had a complete miniature model of Graceland (yes, Elvis’ home) in their front yard. Each year for Christmas, they would decorate Graceland, and we could drive by and check it out.

Later, my husband and I lived close to McAdenville, NC, also known as “Christmas Town USA.” The neat thing about McAdenville is that the town has been decorating for over 50 years. People come from all over just to drive through town and check it out.

If you like Christmas lights, there is one place you really ought to check out - and you don’t even have to go anywhere to do it. Someone has put a video of their home on YouTube, and it’s pretty incredible. They’ve got their lights on their house going to music – a song called “Wizards in Winter” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The video is over three minutes long, and I can’t decide if it’s just plain neat or if someone just had too much time on their hands. You’ll have to judge for yourself!

Apparently, if you drive by the home, you can tune your radio into a certain station and actually hear the music that goes with the lights. Pretty crazy!
