Celebrate our libraries!

This week is National Library Week. It's a little sad to me that as computers have become more and more ingrained in our society that our libraries have kind of dropped in their popularity. Maybe not everywhere, but it seems to me that when I was growing up, we would go every so often and pick out books and maybe a movie or two and it was always a big deal for my sister and I. Now, going to the library is something I rarely think about.

I guess that's about to change though, now that I have a son. Sure, he's a little too young to appreciate books right now, but my nephew is three years old and he goes with his mom every week to the library for story time. It's a fun and free trip for them both.

This week, our local library is having one of their book sales. I don't know if it just happens to be this week or if they planned it to coincide with the holiday, but I usually enjoy checking it out. The last two days of the sale, they have a "stuff a box for $2" sale. Of course, by then, the choices are pretty picked over, but you can usually find something worth your time!

Anyway, I think that now, I'm going to stop taking my local library for granted. Especially since I don't have money to be buying books, and I so want my kids to grow up loving to read! Since this week is National Library week, I guess this is just as ood a time as any to make a trip and check out what great things our local library has to offer!
