Celebrate Chocolate Ice Cream!

This Thursday, June 7th, is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day! Hurray for ice cream! Although there doesn't seem to be any official origin, and it's probably just a holiday that ice cream manufacturers came up with, it's still a great reason to celebrate! And what better time to celebrate ice cream than in the summertime? Okay, so we don't need to wait for a specific day to have ice cream (thank goodness!) but this just gives us a good excuse.

I wonder, does it count as celebrating Chocolate Ice Cream day if we eat something other than purely plain chocolate? One of my newest favorites is Ben and Jerry's Karamel Sutra, which is "a core of soft caramel encircled by chocolate and caramel ice creams and fudge chips." That counts, right? I could make myself sick eating this ice cream... although there's so many different Ben and Jerry's ice creams that I've come to love. It's too bad they're so expensive! Or maybe that's a good thing... they sure aren't helping me lose my baby-weight!

Or, if going out for ice cream is more your thing, my recommendation is to try a Cold Stone Creamery or a Maggie Moo's. We don't have a Cold Stone close to where I live, but the Maggie Moo's Better Batter is absolutely wonderful. Of course, that's not a chocolate ice cream either, but they've also got a Chocolate Better Batter that supposedly tastes like brownie mix. Yum!

Okay, so maybe it's not technically ice cream, and I'm sure gelato aficionados will be upset at me saying this, but it's close enough for me! What a great holiday!
