Candy Christmas tree

Now this is what I call a kid's dream Christmas tree! Judy Hardaway has an idea for decorating a smaller tree, specifically for her grandkids, that is really awesome. This is definitely something I would like to try to do for my kids, although I don't know how practical it is considering my severe sweet tooth - it may not last until Christmas! candy-christmas-tree_chocolate-ornaments.jpg

Not only does she put up a regular tree, but Judy keeps a smaller tree decorated with candy - yes, real candy. She calls it her "sugar plum tree." Using plastic wrap and ribbon to put up homemade goodies and tulle fabric to wrap decorative foil-wrapped candies, the tree sparkels with sugary goodness that kids find hard to resist. candy-christmas-tree_gingerbread-man.jpg

If you choose shaped candy that is wrapped in decorative foil, you can hang those with regular ornament hangers - taped to the back of course! See how she's used chocolate shaped toy soldiers? Of course, as with any typical tree, candy canes have found their way as part of the decorations, and even the tree skirt is adorned with colorful candy.

Judy also recommends having a special bag or basket for each child so they can take home some of the goodies off of the tree. If it were my family, I don't think there would be any treats left to make the trip home!
