As Father's Day looms in the near future...

This is the weekend. It's finally here, and although I've been preparing myself, somehow I'm still not ready. This Sunday is Father's Day.

I always want to make sure I do something fabulous for my husband and father both on Father's Day to let them know how much they're appreciated. I must admit that it tends to be a little more weighted on the side of my own dad because, well, he is MY father. I suppose until the kids are a little older, it's hard to involve them too much in celebrating what a great dad he is.

But somehow, I never can seem to come up with anything "new." Last year I was extremely proud of myself when I came up with the idea to make a shirt for my husband with our son's footprints on it. I figured he would wear it around the house, but much to my surprise he likes it enough to wear out in public! Now that our daughter has joined the family, our son has grown, and the ink is starting to fade a bit, I thought that even though it's a "repeat idea," he might like another shirt with both of their prints on it. I think I'm going to try to be brave and go for handprints this year - although have you ever tried to get an infant to keep their fingers spread out correctly to make an imprint?

I admit, I've decided to do the same for my own dad, although I thought about getting my sister's kids involved too. Maybe we can do two for him - one from his daughters and one from his grandkids. But that kind of runs into Grandparent's Day... Sigh. Well, I've got about half a week to sort it out!
