Arrrr ... you savvy?

It's officially here - Talk Like a Pirate Day. I can't say I get it, but if the fascination with pirates stems from the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movies starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Kiera Knightly, well, I guess I do get it a little... except that they really didn't talk like the stereotypical pirate. Well, not to much anyway.

To celebrate the day, check out the MSN Pirate Trivia game and see how well you know your stuff. In the meantime, have fun with the day - pull out your eye patch, perch your stuffed parrot on your shoulder, and stick a pirate movie in to watch. Arrrr! Today we be pirates matey!

Here there be trivia, me hearties!

Yarrrrrr! We be hittin' landfall on International Talk Like A Pirate Day, and me and my mateys are celebratin' with this trivia quiz, straight from the briny deep! There be a wealth of booty to be had here, ye scurvy sea dog, so get ye up to the crow's nest smartly and use those deadlights, or you'll be kissin' the gunner's daughter before ya know it, savvy?

(There are three rounds - the last of which you can wager your points to either win double the points or lose whatever you wager if you miss the question. I'm proud to say that I ended round two with 4170 points, I wagered 3070 points and got it right! Yay! I finished with a total of 7240 points. Maybe that's not the greatest, but hey, I'm happy with it!)

Funny thing about this holiday is that my husband has informed me that they actually do make a big deal about it at his work - at least in his department anyway. There's only 4 for them, all guys, and apparently they have a good time with the holiday. One guy wears an eye patch in and they all "talk like a pirate" - I'm sure only amongst themselves. (I hope...) How about you - is this one you actually observe? If so, how?
