Are you ready to celebrate the Oscars?

Kind of like the Superbowl for film lovers, the Oscars have become an event not to miss - if you are interested in staying up to date on all the who's who, who's wearing what and who's escorting who on the red carpet, that is. The 80th Annual Oscars are just around the corner and will air on ABC this Sunday, February 24th. Okay, I have to admit, it's not something I've ever watched, much less "celebrated," although I have been known to sneak a peak in between other shows. This year will be no different, I'm sure, if for no other reason than because I've only seen a handful of movies that have been nominated. And, as much as it doesn't affect us normal people one little bit, I have to say that I will be sorely disappointed if Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End don't win something.

Personally, I think that one of the biggest reasons people actually watch the Oscars is to see the beautiful people all dressed up on the red carpet. Why else would the Oscar's web site have a whole page devoted to "Style" - featuring photos of women from years past in their pocket-book hurting dresses and jewelry-on-loan? Or, if you're more of a history buff, check out their page of "The Red Carpet," which features shots of the Oscar attendees from years past - and I mean past. As in back to the 1930's. And who says fashion isn't important? Seems to me like that's all this is about!

This year's Oscars will be hosted by Jon Stewart, and this will be his second year as a host for the Oscars. (The first year was the 78th awards show.) So, if you're a Hollywood movie or glamor buff, stock up on the popcorn and ice cream and settle in for a night of beautiful women in fabulous gowns and handsome men all done up! If nothing else, you have to admit that those Hollywood people know how to put on a good show!
